Hydrotherapy

In the Dolbia Animal Rehabilitation Center we have a swimming pool with ozonated water and a Hydro Physio water treadmill. It is the only such place in Poland with such professional facilities for water therapy. We can choose the appropriate therapy for your case. Not all diseases are suitable for treadmill therapy, and vice versa, not all patients are rehabilitated in a swimming pool. It is a very individual matter and each case is analyzed separately. Both in terms of disease and type of surgery, age, race, size and temperament, both small and giant breeds can freely swim in the pool. The treadmill is constructed in such a way that the therapist can enter it and have control over the therapy and the patient. The entry and exit from both sides makes it easier to familiarize yourself with the treadmill and is safe for patients, especially for neurological patients. The water in our treadmill does not stand still, a special filtration and heating system means that each patient has clean water poured at a temperature of 29-32 degrees. The water level and the speed of the running belt are adjusted for each patient and condition. At least two therapists are involved in treadmill therapy, and sometimes even four are needed for the therapy to run properly

Benefits of animal hydrotherapy:

• exercise in water reduces the burden on painful and diseased body structures. This provides less strain on the limbs, reduces the likelihood of damage to muscles, tendons and ligaments,

• thanks to the buoyant force, it facilitates the performance of difficult activities and movements,

• due to the fact that water creates more resistance than air, it greatly strengthens muscle mass and strength,

• prevents atrophy,

• increases cardiovascular capacity,

• increases the range of joint movements, reduces their stiffness,

• increases the stretchability of soft tissues,

• prevents swelling thanks to hydrostatic pressure,

• reduces joint pain, 

• slows down the effects of degenerative diseases such as degeneration and myelopathy,

• it improves the quality of life, especially in elderly and disabled animals.
